August, I am no further ahead.

Thanks for leading me to the site but . . .

I tried today to set this up and I am afraid that the terminology used is
my stump. No matter what I entered in the proper slots, I was unable to WOL
my Acer. I want to have this ability on that machine as it holds all my
stuff, it is the major repository .

Something new to me is the mention of this "cable" from NIC to
MoBo, I have never seen this mentioned before, is this an old thing, are
the more recent NIC/MoBo programmed for this? I should open my tower to see
if there are these on-board connectors.

When shutdown, both machines have the router LEDs active meaning that the
process could be completed. There are so many links in the setup that any
one of them would block the effort, which one is the question ?

I can obtain the IP for the router and the NIC, I presume that the
router's would be addressed first thus input first in the GUI small dialog
that is presented. Port number also stumped me, they mention that it does
not matter. I would need to access the router, the AP, and allow, open this
port, no ?

I should bug Jeff on this, he helped me a lot when setting up Ultr{at}VNC to
my brother's Thinkpad. What do you say ?
