The Jews had no legitimate claim to the land., none. They were given Arab land not least out of a sense of quilt over what later came to be called the Holocaust. Not to mention it was a convenient way to get rid of all those Jewish refugees in Europe no one wanted around. The Arabs had every right to oppose the give-away of their land. They were justified in resisting, although they lost that round. They will not lose the ongoing war, however. If nothing else, demographic factors will return the land to its proper owners. The Jews will be no more successful than the Crusaders were and I suspect the Jews will not hold out anywhere near as long as they did. The creation of Israel was a great injustice and not mitigated by what happened to the Jews in Europe under the Nazis. The Arabs have been made to suffer because the Jews had suffered in Europe. There is no justice in that, not even for the Jews. What Israel has become in trying to maintain its presence on Arab land has made Israel a pariah among nations with the US its only major supporter. I have no doubt that future Jews will see the creation of the Israel state in 1948 as a huge mistake, an ugly and wrong-headed reaction to a one time event that occurred under the Nazis, a mistake that diminished all Jews everywhere.
