A friend had to come and retrieve me from downtown Detroit at
4am some decades ago and while there he had to buy gas at a
"Purple Martin" gas station (he was on empty). His car (brand
new) never ran right after that and he blamed me and that
'Purple Martin' gasoline he had to buy while downtown. I've
never seen a 'Purple Martin' station before or since. :-)

I owned a tweaked Pontiac that had to use either Shell premium
or Sunoco 260 to avoid puffing black smoke out the exhaust.
THAT was expensive at 10 mpg!
