You might take some tape and put an X on the window so the birds don't crash 
into it. Surprised that the Mockingbird didn't break its neck. But I'll be he 
had a headache.
Several years ago I was at a bird club meeting when one of the members was 
giving a demonstration on handfeeding a baby Strawberry finch. She asperated 
the little finch in fron of the whole bird club. HF finches is a touchy job.
