HP>>I used to have a plant called mexican hat plant that would grow little
plant all around
HP>>the leaves that would drop and start new plants.
CG> In Canada's Ontario, it's called "mother hen and chicks" or similar.
CG> Ideal for window-ledges in kindergarten classrooms. I wanted to buy
CG> one last week. Let me hunt one out and get the offical name.
Are you sure this isn't called a "Mule Ear Kalanchoe"... one of the succulent
"bryophyllum"? I know it is often refered to as "Hen & Chicks", as many of
those in this family are... because they "volunteer" so very easily... from
leaves (or pieces of same :) I believe those that produce tiny little
plantlets in the notches of the leaf edges (and then fall away, to root into
the soil) are of this family, and are actually known as Crassula...
cheers,
WL Sakowski
