Hi Walter ... on 11 Mar 97 at 16:15 you wrote,

My Zoom 14.4 VFP modem is several years old but I understand that the
new Zooms still have a good sized manual.

Yes ... but many of us can't afford the LD charges to log on to USR's
BBS and don't have Internet access! When you are paying the prices that
USR charge, they should also be able to include a decent manual without
you having to expend extra bucks to get a text file that you then have
to turn around and print on your 10 year old 9 pin dot matrix printer
costing more bucks for paper and ribbon :-((
WL> I'd prefer that USR include the manual in the modem's retail

I agree with all your points above! I don't see why they can't include
a diskette with the text version of the manual as part of the retail
package as well as the printed manual. I sometimes will use Vern
Beurg's LIST programme to browse documentation but I still insist on
having the hard copy ... my yellow hiliter makes an awful mess on my
screen :-))
Thanks again for your message of comiseration :-))
Bye for now ... Bob
