Hi Carol,
CS> Good enough for a mere straight seam which is what I need now and will
CS> use it for. I may well never progress beyond this level, but if I do,
CS> I will consider the used machine as you suggest.
Most of the time the straight stitch is the only one I need but I"m glad
to have the other stitches when needed. My machine has 2 alphabets
programmed in; I like to use them for personalised gifts. Also, some of
the embroidery stitches are fun to just play around with.
RH> What is a DP? I know it used to mean "displaced person" but I doubt
CS> Data Processing Technician. Horrible name for the field and getting
CS> worse shortly as we combine with the RM (Radioman) rate and become
CS> RM's! (Gives me visions of Radar O'Rielly on MASH winding up the box
The Army seems to be keeping up better on the MOS naming. Steve is in
intelligence and has a German language trailer to his
official MOS.Technically, his job is so classified he can't talk about
it. The last few years he's been more of a pencil pusher; writing
curriculum and evaluating classes/instructors at the MI school here.
I'm not sure what he's doing in Korea except that it is Joint Services,
working with the Korean military.
Rachel and I have been having fun watching late night reruns of MASH the
past couple of months. Found out how Klinger has such a wardrobe; a
couple of nights ago they showed his room with an old black Singer
sewing machine and several dresses under construction.
CS> Mine too on the paperbacks! Last time I filtered it out and donated
CS> some, I donated 4 *full* grocery bags worth of mixed hardback and
 CS> paperback books.
It's been a while since I went thru my books; should probably do it
again. I collect a lot in paperback that I'd like to keep; saves our
weight allowance a bit.
RH> zippers in my BIL's backpack. I've got the new zippers in but have
RH> doing some of it by hand. I'll finish it this week end & get it in
CS> Easier done by hand I suspect. Have fun! .
MOst of it was easy on the sewing machine once I got the tension &
everything else co-ordinated. There were a few spots where I could not
use the machine for one reason or another. Hopefully this job will
outlast the pack now.
Catch you later,
Ruth
