You will find turning the machine OFF works wonders for getting virus
code out of "master upper memory".  You will also find that booting
afterwards from a clean, write-protected floppy will _keep_ the virus
from being re-copied back to memory.
The "magic" in the IBM disk is not the AV program so much as the fact
that you booted with it, and therefore the virus infecting your hard
drive couldn't re-install itself on the boot.
_Always_ boot from a clean, write-protected floppy if you're
attempting to get rid of a virus infection.
