I don't see how this is different from having the lazy write MAXAGE
parameter (see the CACHE command in the online help) set to a value that
falls within that period (the default is 5 seconds).

Calling my program causes the whole cache to be thrown away;   if you were
going to do that you might as well set the cache size to 0 (I think 64k is
the actuall min) and turn lazy writes off!
