If *only* Borland had provided bug lists, fixes and given Pascal a go
(even without PM support), I think their fortunes would be very
different.
But they haven't supported me (and I assume others) in any way shape
or form. About 18 months ago, I reported about 6 serious bugs that
stopped me developing a 370 ASM to 486 convertor for OS/2.
They fixed one or two of the problems with 1.5, but others still
remain.
Version 2? Don't know at this stage, I don't intend to buy it to
find out. However, I shall post messages so that hopefully someone
can tell me if the problems are solved.
What a great shame. Really, the compilers are very, very fast, the IDE
is good, and the support for Windows was very good. Great debuggers,
an alternative to Microsft (who acted the same way) etc.
What a shame.
What a shame.
With sadness, Clem
PS: You know, Microsoft is coming out with all the FUD in the world.
IBM started off FUD years ago, but with one BIG BIG difference.
IBM did their level best to produce solid products, with copious
amonuts of documentation and bug lists.
There was, and is, a difference even with IBM FUD.
