Hi Mike!

On 08.02.95 16:05 you wrote to Andrew Clegg:

That's not quite true! Objective C is a programming language (or better a
C-add-on) by some guy named B.J.Cox. Most it does is simply adding OO-features
to ANSI-C without changing anything else (like C++) or bombing you with
language features (like C++). OK, people might state that many of the new
C++ features are quite necessary, however it still depends on what you
like most. And since Next have chosen Objective C as implementation language
and therefore added all they needed to GNU-C compilers there is indeed some
kind of standard you can rely on.
Anyway, what I just wanted to say from the beginning is, C++ is no real standard
language either. Look at all the different implementations even under OS/2.
Since an ANSI standard is not definitely out there's still no guaranty for
code portability under C++ - even if you try to use only the basic features.
After all it'll be the safest way either to use ANSI C or just use what you
like most :-)
