I did play with DeskMate, but didn't use it a lot, mainly because:

1.  I already knew DOS pretty well from university, and 2.  I either needed
compatibility with the software I was using elsewhere, or I was using text
editors, program languages and other software that DeskMate wasn't relevant to.
