Yeah, whatever else you can say of Jung, I think his sheer
brilliance shines through, even in spite of his early Aryan
obsession.  He mapped out a portion of the human soul that
most people don't even know exists.  We can, with hindsight,
say that it is deplorable that he discvovered the realm of
archetypes at a time when he was possessed by Aryanism, but
whether we like it or not archetypes are part of being human,
and Jung discovered them.
In a way there's something comforting about knowing that your
former heroes were just schmucks, but schmucks who did something
heroic.  That takes some of the magical thinking out of it.
Humanity is forever changed by the 'discovery' of unconscious
archetypal mentation, but that doesn't mean we have to accept the
Aryan context of the discovery.
I've just been reading a biography of Alexander Solzhenitsyn,
by DM Thomas.  Solzhenitsyn abandoned dozens of people who
had been his ardent supporters, and cruelly abandoned his first
wife in favor of a much younger woman who bore him children.
But Solzhenitsyn's _Gulag Archipelago_ changed the course of
human history, and was much more powerful than any atomic bomb
could ever have been.
No man is a hero to his valet, as the saying goes.
