Be aware 9 Gigs are at least 4 years old, so, with the choice there is
now, I would look for a 18 Gig. The Seagate 18 Gigs are still in
fabrication, that is the 18 Gig 15k rpm. Purchased one 6 months ago at
Ebay, and believe me, the 15k rpm makes the difference.

So, my OS2 boot is on that disk as E: and the rest of it is a download
zone F:
So, my recommendation is to put the os2/ecs boot onto a 18 Gig 15k rpm
disk in a more or less 1.5 Gig sized partition.

At present I have as C: an 36 Gig Quantum and as D: a 36 Gig Quantum
too. I'm in the proces of replacing the Quantums by 72 Gig
Seagate/Fujitsu (incidentally, Seagate and Fujitsu are the same, just a
different label). I'm waiting a bit till 72 gig 15k rpm do their
appearence at Ebay.
Of course, Segate/Fujitsi 10k rmp will do as well, but as I told, the
difference between 10k rpm and 15k rpm turs out to be quite impressive.

Bottom line, if you can afford to wait a bit, wait for the 72 Gig 15K rpm.

And if you can't afford to wait that little bit, go for the
Seagate/Fujitsu. There are lots of them at Ebay Germany at present, so
it's likely there will be at Ebay US too.

One thing I've done in the past and won't do anymore is to purchase a
scart (80 pins) model, as fiddling around with the 68-80 pins adapters
always turns out to be clumsy and tricky as well.

18 GB IBM drives aren't IBM drives but Hitachi and a recepee for
disastre. As all Hitachi scsi drives are.
Haven't I already told so?

To repeat myself again: these aren't IBM drives but Hitachi devices
(except for the DNES one MAYBE - but it is exactly a DNES 18 Gig one
that failed on me after 3 months already 4 years ago now).

The fact alone he is telling lies about the "manufacturer" should turn
you away from that reseller.

Anyway, anything labelled as "4.9MS" comes directly from Hitachi (yeh,
with an IBM sticker attached to it ).

Just forget about any hard drives having an IBM sticker. Yes, that easy
it is!
