I notice the same thing even with older children. If we don't get the bulk of
our academics done by noon or so, I pretty much lose them for the rest of the
day. My kindergardener (she's still in public school this year) likes to do
work after she gets home about 11:30am, but after only an hour she's too 
ired
and cranky to do anything.
