I, for one, appreciate the information. I will make sure that the firearms
instructors and range master on my department gets this information. I would
hope that information of this type would be put into a nationwide broadcast
so that each department can do their own testing and try to duplicate the
incident. My entire department carries Glock 17's (9mm), and we are just
about to change to the Glock .45. We have a concrete pit that we would
probably drop the weapon in from various heights and conditions (i.e.clean,
dirty, induced problems, etc.). I would hope that Glock would also do
extensive testing and publish the results. You are correct, the name of the
game is to go home alive at the end of the shift. I understand the defensive
nature of many LEOs when there is doubt introduced in an item they trust with
their lives every day. It's just human nature. Additional testing on a large
scale will either restore that trust or identify a problem that needs to be
fixed.
