That's off-topic here, try the amateur or ham radio echoes, since I 
can't answer here. You may wish to read up on the subject, average HF 
exciter output is 100-150 watts, and vhf from 1 to 75 watts, though 1KW 
is run as it is on HF. Radio Shack is junk to be avoided.  Seek a local 
ham radio club (check with local library's list of associations or 
contact ARRL for affiliated club list for more help.
