BOB MOYLAN was thinking about Sugar and keyed into cyberspace:
BM>Jane Kelley On (13 Dec 96) was overheard to say to Mark Probert
BM> JK> MP>This is also recommended by Hallowell and Ratey, as well as
BM> JK> Barkley. You MP>know who they are?
BM> JK> Nope. Lots of folks I don't know about.
BM> You admit your ignorance then regarding ADD/ADHD but still insist on
BM> attempting to tell others all about it, what causes it and injecting
BM> your experience with alcoholism. No relationship Jane, none, zero,
BM> zip.
Sometimes it is easy to show haw ignorant someone is. Actually, I felt a
little guilty about getting her on that one. I guess I have a soft heart
for the reality challenged.
BM> JK> On the other hand, you go find out for yourself since I have
BM> JK> seen a couple of other posts on this today. The information
BM> JK> necessary ought to be fairly close at hand, say in a health food
BM> JK> store?
BM> There is a health food chain in this area calling themselves "Health
BM> Quest" who ran for 2 days a radio commercial touting their products
BM> as being acceptable alternatives for "severe stimulants", "dangerous
BM> drugs" and parents could "stop giving their children ritalin". I
BM> actually went to one of these stores, presented myself as a parent
BM> with a child who has ADHD and got the full sales pitch, believe me
BM> that's all it was, a sales pitch. They didn't have one, not a
BM>single piece of evidence that stated their products would have any
BM>effect on anyone with ADD or ADHD. Nutritional supplements is what
BM>they are selling that's all. Over the counter vitamins are just as
BM>effective and a whole lot cheaper. Don't push health food stores to
BM>me. Oh by the way I also complained about the content of the
BM>commercial to the radio station playing it and to the local office
BM>of the FCC. Perhaps that's why that commercial only ran for 2
BM>days...whatch think Jane..were they making patently and provable
BM>false claims?
And they were violating the FDA rules, regs and law.
