One of the reasons is that the 3 credit bureaus are against the credit freeze since account with frozen credit cannot be sold to marketers for credit solicitation. If a significant number of people freeze their credit, it represents a lost income stream for the 3 credit bureaus. An analogy for not being able to freeze your credit is as if your house were protected with a combination lock. Having your SS number leaked is as though this combination were leaked. Back to the house analogy - you are not allowed to change your combination, nor put on a supplemental conventional lock and key. You are reduced to staying alert at all times to monitor the door in case the thief with the combination tries to get in. Nothing as simple and logical as securing it with a key (credit freeze). --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
