I'm not actually sure - from a programming perspective it was set up so
that it looked just like a normal EFI: check the crank position and switch
the injector on/off for the appropriate cylinder. The fact that a single
i/o port was triggering two injectors was transparent. It pretty much had
to be with the limited processing power available. (The 8061 in the EEC IV
normally maxed out at around 8000rpm on a V6 - we stretched that a bit for
the 4-cyl RS200 but you run into issues due to timer
resolution/granularity.)

I can believe it. The idea on the RS200 was to use standard parts as much
as possible, just put together in unusual configurations. It worked quite
well, but sadly the B class was banned just as the RS200 was starting to
show promise. I believe some of the ones we made for homologation ended up
as motorway pursuit vehicles for Essex police.
