Hello All!
I have been given an old 3COM network card, unfortunately with no details at
all. If anybody could possibly help to identify it, I would be most grateful!
Physically it is a full-length ISA 16-bit card, with BNC and 15-way D ports
on the blanking plate. The D port is labelled "DIX", which I understand is
Novell's name for AUI..? There are two red LEDs on the top of the PCB
(inside).
The only distinguishing markings on the card are at the end:
3COM CORP, MT VIEW, CA.
ASSY 2012-01 REV 1B SN _______
I also noticed an 80186 CPU on the card, as well as what appears to be 64K of
EPROM..
There are lots of lovely, labelled jumpers, and even a MAC address
(02608C3E9DAF if that means anything to anyone with a list of manufacturers'
assigned addresses!) printed on a chip.
I put it in my machine, and neither Linux or Win95 will identify the card.
Any help greatly accepted!
Jonathan
... Daddy, why doesn't this magnet pick up this floppy?
