I just purchased the Lee 1 oz 12 ga slug mould. It's typical
Lee poor quality. I smoked the inside surfaces like the
instructions said, and it was a bitch getting the slugs to drop
from the core pin. I cast them hard (wheelweights and
linotype) because that was what happened to be in the pot. They
came out .680" to .683". I also used Midway Drop Out Mould
Release, and that helped a *little* but it was still a bitch to
get the slug to separate from the center pin. I whacked on it so
hard, one of the mould halves got outboard of the center pin
holder, and it was a bitch getting the thing back together. The
Lyman roundball and slug moulds are twice the price of the Lee
slug mould, but in this case, I can testify that you get what you
pay for.
I forget what the roundballs weigh, exactly. But I'd suggest
trying the .662" and .690" roundballs before messing with this
piece of crap Lee slug mould.
