| subject: | No 380 sales |
From: "George Sherwood" So if the A-380 is the future of aviation as some have advocated, why have none sold in 2006? The delay has hurt them I am sure, but if the case for this airplane was solid, it would still sell. I have never bought into the sales pitch of this aircraft from the start. We saw the tricks Airbus played with the Chinese orders last year to beat Boeing they are going to have to come up with something even trickier to get close this year. George http://www.forbes.com/markets/currencies/2006/07/10/boeing-airbus-0710markets08 .html Airbus orders fell 58% year-over-year in the first half of 2006. Orders in the first six months of the year totaled 117, compared to 276 for the same time period last year and failed to include any new orders for Airbus' super-jet, the A380, which seats up to 800 passengers. Meanwhile, Boeing reported 480 new orders in the first six months of 2006, versus 441 in the first half of 2005. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
