RM> I doubt many countries have a lot of fertile land just sitting around. RM> Most would have to choose between growing fuel and growing food. GP~Not with soy and/or hemp -- both of which can produce a LOT of oil per ~acre and with a short growing season/cycle, can produce a lot better ~than the same soil for food (and there's no shortage of unused arable ~land in the USA and Canada! I don't think there's enough extra to produce enough crops to replace fossile fuels though.. GP~[whoops, current high gas prices snipped] Just as well... I think my math was off a touch... (Damned metric system...) B) I was allowing closer to 5 than 4.54 liters to the Imperial gallon. GP~Yes, but how often are our prices artificially set by our own ~corporate cartels? :P Can't trust anyone... I do notice that gas prices go UP when things get stirred up much quicker than they come down after..
