subject: Install Word on portable

GB=> I have Microsoft Office 4.3 on a CD. It is easy to install on
GB=> the desktop computer, but I want to install it on my portable.
GB=> Does anybody know how I can install Microsoft Word 6.0 onto a
GB=> portable from a CD on a desktop?
If you have access to a parallel-port CD-ROM it's easy. Failing that, it
becomes more complicated.
I would make sure my desktop and laptop computers were set up with identical
subdirectory structures (C:\windows, C:\windows\system), then install Office
to the desktop.
After that, use laplink or a similar program to transfer the Windows
directory structure, plus all the newly created subdirectories, to your
laptop. After that, in Windows on the laptop, you'll probably need to delete
any icons for other programs that you didn't bring across, reset the video
type in windows setup, etc. It's doable, but messy.
All this so you can use Word at home? ;-)
