BG>> AG>A> DANGEROUS DOG LEGISLATION:
BG>> AG>A>
BG>> AG>A> NEW YORK STATE:
BG>> AG>A>
BG>> AG>A> PEEKSKILL, NY is considering a breed-specific law directed
BG>> against AmStaff
BG>> AG>A> Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and APBT
BG>> (America
BG>> AG>A> Pit Bull Terriers). This would require all owners to abide by
BG>> strict
BG>> AG>A> confinement and licensing requirements, as well as have a

BG>>
BG>> muzzle people as they are the ones that pervert dogs, pollute the

BG>It may be that people pervert the dog, but the fact is that many of these
typ
BG>of dogs (for whatever reason) are a menace. I was on vacation taking a
walk
BG>with my small children (ages 2,4,6) when a Staffordshire Bull Terrior
pulled
BG>his chain off its eye-bolt and came after me and my kids. We were on a
publi
BG>road. Lukily, I grabbed a large branch and kept the dog away while I
moved m
BG>kids to safety. I called the State Police and the dog went after the
trooper
BG>He shot the beast. I know people love their dogs, but some animals are
BG>dangerous and should not be allowed to roam freely. What possible
leasure
BG>could someone get from an animal that can't be trusted or has the very
eal
BG>potential to be danerous to others?
BG>There was a story on the news not long ago about people who found a pit
bull
BG>the street, took it home, and it chewed off the foot of their baby. The
coup
BG>were interviewed on TV and they said they still wanted to keep the dog
after
BG>the incident. I love my animals too, but some owners act like their pets
are
BG>more important than their children, neighbors, and people in general. Why
is
BG>this?
BG>... An unusual child is one who asks questions that his parents can
swer.
i'm very sorry you had the experience you did and am very glad you and
your children escaped without harm. there is some indication of where
the problem lay when you refer to the dog having, 'pulled his chain off
the eyebolt', this is no way to keep the animal, fenced yard with shade,
in the house but not so imprisoned. one more thing, did you know special
armed forces throughout the world have used standard poodle for their
intelligence and ability to be turned into a fierce attack dog. it's my
contention that if poodles were ever considered *cool* by rednecks we'd
be in a world of ca ca. in britain the staffordshire is known to be
very protective of children and are often their companions to protect
them. jack---es own dogs and jack---es own guns, who kills more in this
country? hey, i ran into a bull mastiff the other day that had gone
ferral, do you think i was happy? 55 thousand people a year die from
auto accidents, do you own a car, do your kids ever drive in it. poing
being there are risks in this life but lets put the blame where it belongs,
gun, knife, dog, automobiles, you name it we're our own worst enemy.
again let me say i'm very happy you and your children were not injured.
best regards.
