My wife and I each have a cellphone with a no-roaming, no-long-distance
plan, and 350 peak minutes that we never go over, and free nights/weekends.
 The POTS is to order pizza and carry the DSL: anything non-local we use
the cell.

OTOH, we pay a lot for a phone service we rarely use: that's because I need
a separate line for dial-up/DSL (for network troubleshooting, back when I
was employed).
