I understand that and sympathize - I hope you didn't think I was having
a go at you either.

PE> The only reason I turned
PE> OFF dupe checking was because I caught it flagging
PE> something as dupe that I had never seen before.

A lucky break in other words...

PE> And before anyone says, "Isn't it obvious that a totally wiped area,
PE> several corrupted areas, and a TRAP-D on outgoing mail is obviously
PE> due to me setting 'Dupes 0' in my squish.cfg", yes I admit it was
PE> bloody obvious now that you mention it, and I'll whip myself
PE> viciously tonight so that I remember.

If the software at WORST barfed with an error and says 'dupe detected -
I'm outa here' you could say the software actually WORKED. But a funkin
Trap D? That's not what I call functioning code. We and you in
particular should not have to mind read half baked code for obscure
errors like this when it has enough bleeding obvious quirks as it is.

PE> I suppose one of the problems is that
PE> I didn't get a great deal of help when setting up my BBS.
PE> One person did help me, but they weren't happy to answer
PE> all my questions at once, and didn't sound like they were
PE> happy about me ringing them up at all.

Says a lot for the documentation... not.

PE> And yes, FD, RA is *HEAPS* easier to set up than the crap
PE> I'm using. Still, with points-only, and Tobruk and
PE> Binkley, at least I'll have source code to everything.
PE> Like putting 2/10 second delay in to fix double-send.
PE> Brilliant! BFN.

Light at the end of the tunnel?
