I have sheep. In essence I now have land on which there are sheep (the land
is rented out). I no longer have any of my own. My father retains 2 pet
sheep along with a shetland/pit pony.

Yup. But they also like & need to know where they are. The most
destructive sort of owner is the one who changes his or her mind all the
time.
