BR> I wouldn't want a silverface *anything*!
You and I are in agreement on that. :)
My dad-in-law has a silverface Twin Reverb... As he plays through it,
I see the paint on the walls peeling. :)
BR> I've played through more Dual Showmans than you've ever seen. Never
BR> liked any of them. They are way too clean and very sterile sounding.
BR> I've never been much of a fan of Showman, Twin clean amps. I like
hings
BR> to break up before they're set on 10. If I was to ever get a Blackface
BR> Fender it would be a Super or Pro Reverb. More likely a Super with the
BR> 4X10's.
Clean, yes. Sterile, no. :)
Besides, that's exactly what I wanted. A good clean tone. I have a
processor for distortion, and it does break up with my Tele on the neck
('bucker) and the FrankenStrat on the neck (Texas Special) at about 6-7. And
through my new Peavey 412MS, it's VERY authoritative sounding with this great
bass thud. :) Besides, what's wrong with being clean? :) I've never
been too big on the overdriven Marshall sound myself. The reason I got the
amp is because it sounds great without distortion or even reverb, so I have a
great base tone for adding effects to. :)
But if I ever want something that distorts at low volumes, a Blues Jr.
is definitely my first choice. :)
