The -15 is a different (aka later) model than the "none -15". The 34 vs 36 sectors is an interesting idea but the label also has a BFI table to map the defects. If it was as you suggest then there would be no need for a BFI map, I think? JH> Sometimes BIOS SETUP will let you enter a value in the User-Defined JH> CHS parameters which it will not support. So maybe your machine's bios JH> would accept 1224, but only format the first 1024. I formatted the ll with the hdc's bios. However it was FDISK'd with dos 5.0 which has the C-1024 limit. I'm thinking dos 6.22 sees the 270M number originally put in the 90M active partition by dos 5.0 and decides there's only 180M left for the extended partition. I'll have to reformat and then FDISK with 6.22 to be sure. JH> Seems like it is only LLF'd to 283/270MB now. If FDISK confirms JH> this, maybe the HDC BIOS can accept more than 1024 cyls and you can JH> LLF it to get over the 300 MB mark. There's no doubt the hdc bios sees more than 1024. I'm pretty sure it is fully fomatted but that's the next thing I'll retry. JH> Good luck - - - JimH. Thanks! Mike **** ...
