-> OK, you looking at something a bit different... I was
-> thinking of something a bit larger. It's tough some times
-> to switch gears between the big boat and then think of
-> "similar" situations on the little one!
Dan: In my case the cheaper boat winch would be all I need, basicaly all
I need is a bit of mechanical advantage. I could probably do with a
simple line to haul up the mast; but there is the sdvantage of using a
winch.
-> What I was getting at was that I only take off the forestay when I
-> take down the mast. I leave the shrouds in place. Saves a
-> lot of time resetting them for each launch.
I see what you mean, I guess I could do the same myself, since it only
takes a couple of minutes to attach the turnbuckles I find it easier to
undo them all. I wind all the stays around the mast when trailering that
way I lessen the chance of kinking a stay. I then have the freedom of
sliding the mast on the boat to allow access to the tailgate of my
vehicle. A couple of wraps with a bungee cord or rigging tape and I have
a neat and tidy mast.
