Hello Robert -

CA>> Unreliable backup media killed "the paperless office" idea.

CA>> Now that we have CDR and DVD-RW I do think paperless
CA>> offices are doable but few want to bother anymore.

RS> This may be true; but, most of the people I see prefer to
RS> read off a piece of paper, rather than the screen, so they
RS> print out anything they want to read that is more than
RS> about 1/2 screen in length.

I realize I am an exception. I've had a computer for over 20
years and have been online from day one. Over the years paper
looks less friendly (can't do an automated search for
keywords). :-)

RS> Also, many sites don't "fit" all the data on screen without
RS> scrolling if you don't have your PC configured "their way",
RS> which only reinforces this habit.

This is true. I personally feel that browsers should take a
more aggressive approach to the display of webpages and _force_
the page to fit the screen resolution. Eventually this would
force the web-weenies to stop writing webpages for only the
'latest and greatest' of video displays. That and hiring
children to write the webpages is a guarantee that they have no
idea who their viewers are or what an older computer will 'see'
when they are finished. :-\

Those who only do their webpages using automated WYSIWYG software
do not realize webpages are _supposed_ to be somewhat fluid by
design and format themselves to the resolution of the browser.
Browser designs do not _force_ this on the designers therefore
they program fixed formats and ignore the original intent of
HTML.
