subject: GOING AWAY AGAIN MAYBE

If I seem to be gone again in the next few days or weeks, please
don't worry. It will have nothing to do with the recent deaths of a
dear friend and several casual ones. It will be because I am working
too many hours at various part-time jobs and trying to produce my canine
newspaper on time to write BBS messages. Because of the latest happening
in my life, I won't have time to grieve. :-(
My husband was laid off the new job today. He has been having bad vibes
about it almost from the beginning because the day he started work he
found out that someone who had worked for the company for eight years
and wanted to come back was probably going to be rehired and assigned
to the same department he was since there were no openings for the job
he had in the past. That guy started back last week and since then my
husband has been telling me that he didn't think there was going to be
enough work to justify having three people in the department. It wasn't
hard to figure out that the company wouldn't keep a person still in the
probationary period and terminate a rehired employee if they decided to
do a reduction in force in a department. The supervisor told him today
his services are no longer needed. So he's going job hunting again, but
this time we are close to the end of the unemployment checks. I may have
to look for another regular part-time job or a full-time one in addition
to my night part-time one if my present employers can't expand my hours.
I figure I can wait about two weeks to make that decision. Maybe we'll
luck out and he'll find some part-time temp work so I can stay on my
present schedule. But the way things have been going for the past few
months, I'm not counting on it happening.
I will try to keep up with reading the message base to follow the
discussion threads and will definitely read anything addressed to me,
but I will probably have to be very selective in picking and choosing
the ones to which I will reply in the limited time I will have
available. So please don't worry if you don't see me posting much.
