Unreliable backup media killed "the paperless office" idea. 

Now that we have CDR and DVD-RW I do think paperless offices
are doable but few want to bother anymore. 

I really haven't had the need to print often enough. Last time
I had a printer connected two cartridges dried up on me with no
pages printed. I disconnected the printer and have had no
printer connected since that time (over 10 years ago).
