Bruce, if you get any kind of response from George I would be greatly
surprised, as these messages come automated from Radio Sweden; you'd do
better to send him a message via Internet email...he's long quit talking
to me after I took him to task about polluting this forum with all that
non SW garbage...however, I suspect that these postings come under
direction of his boss, as he's otherwise a nice guy type who was also
made aware of the fact that there are other Fido forums, such as Fido
Satellite, that have a larger and more appropriate audience for his
postings. Took ole Fred to task for allowing this garbage to pollute
Fido SW, too--and, since he's the moderator and I'm not, I've been a
lurker ever since. But I've not seen hide nor hare of Fred (in person)
for quite a while, and thus I've been sticking my nose back out, a
little at a time... :)
There have been an awful lot of people of late abandoning this forum for
the Internet; a once-regular recently announced on rec.radio.shortwave
that he's got a home page to visit (Brian Carling) and I expect that's
gonna be the rule rather than the exception...and it's safe to conclude
that this automated pollution from Radio Sweden on Fido Shortwave still
happens cuz they just plumb fergot to pull the plug after going
elsewhere...either that, or leaving it in place in some sort of effort
to "cover all bases". Face it; these posts aren't as much information
for DX'ers but infomercials for Swede megabroadcasters to a potential
future audience including DX'ers. IMHO, as I've pointed out to Fred
eons ago, are offtopic and advertisement and on both counts should be
blocked from appearing in this forum. I still stand by my statement.
