Hello Wayne -

--8<--cut

CA>> I saw a documentary where they left househould appliances
CA>> plugged in and one of them, a brand name coffee pot,
CA>> melted down set itself on fire (plastic) then set the
CA>> cupboards above it on fire. Makes you think?

WC> Coffee pots are notorious, I've had two meltdowns and a
WC> well known name brand bit me when the back panel became
WC> electrically _hot_.

Those who have learned to enjoy good coffee don't like those
hotplates built into the coffee pots. The best coffee is still
the percolator made coffee or capuchino IMO. No hotplates here.

CA>>> I remember some mention of ice for the Romans on a
CA>>> documentary and was surprised by that.

WC>> Humidity, clear skies and insulation are the keys.

CA>> --8<--cut

WC>> if I lived in Arizona I'd try the experiment.

CA>> Not sure I'd want to dig a well to try making ice but the
CA>> idea is interesting. Many things existed at an earlier age
CA>> than we realize.

WC> No well needed just a pit with, in the old days,
WC> earthenware jugs of water surrounded with insulation,
WC> perhaps dry sawdust? Today I'd use styrofoam.

To be authentic a well would be required to get the water. :-)

WC>> Walked the dog in a T-shirt this morning :-)

CA>> Sweater, now T-shirt. Are you warning us that if this
CA>> warming trend continues you will be arrested for indescent
CA>> exposure while walking your dog? VBG

WC> Are you kidding, it got COLD last night. I believe it may
WC> have dipped down to a fridged 60 degrees F! I requiered a
WC> top sheet it was so cold.

Yes, that was a weak attempt at humor.

In Michigan 60ø F is a heat wave right now. :-)
