subject: Fidonet Technical Guidelines

JH> I'm looking at what it would take for me to write BBS software
 JH> for Linux.

as far as a bbs is strictly concerned, you don't really need to use any of
the fidonet specs... if you want that system to be able to use the fidonet
style *.MSG message base format, you can find it in the document FTS-0001.*
other message base formats are not really covered by the FTS or FSC
documents as fidonet never really thought that they should document
something thats "outside" the network communications type
stuff...

JH> Is there a technical document available for the Fido protocol?

FTS-0001... it covers all the basic fidonet comm stuffs...

JH> Also, is there technical documentation about assembling
 JH> BlueWave/QWK packets?

not sure where you can find those but there is definitely structure and
information files out there... i, personally, can't recommend bluewave or
qwk use to anyone, though... they loose too much information... ask in the
programing echos... i know someone will have more pointers to the info you
seek...
