The first thing to do would be to test which animals can distinguish one
human being from another. Dogs and cats obviously can. Goldfish I would
guess probably can't. Some animals might be able to distinguish say,
children from adults, but not two similar people from each other.

Generally you would conduct the test by associating two humans with
something of significance to the aminal, such as food.
