Well, since you say that the error is on your fileserver, and not the client 
workstations running the BBS software, it's logically going to be a server 
problem, either with the LAN server software itself or something else that is 
running on the server, and not anything to do with the DOS software at all.  
Unless, of course, you are running the DOS software on the _server_, as well 
(you didn't mention that you were).
