CB>England and the vast majority of industrial countrys have one big
CB>advantage, time on task. Most spend 230 days a year in school (some
CB>more). Although some here have stated that more of the same won't
CB>teach the children more, I think it would. Isn't Oregon lengthening
CB>their year?
It would be interesting to see some studies on this. The idea that
children spend more days in a year (50 more...that's a lot!) could be an
important factor. Don't know much about this concept. I have heard
talk of this for America and understand it to be very controversial.
About kids in England being one year ahead of American kids....I find
this hard to believe. We have kids in prekindergarten.....developmental
preschools and developmental kindergartens. Kids do what kids are able
to do at that age (cognitively, socially, physically) and no early
schooling will change the developmental sequence or hurry it up. Still,
I'd like to see some things on what you have said. I find it
interesting...
