Big move either way. One of them will have a shock.

A distant relation of mine is an Australian girl. She met an American guy
on a trip, and they lived in Sydney after the marriage. He tried very hard,
but in the end he just couldn't cope with the differences. One of his
problems was the wide difference in work styles. We (oz) don't have the
population to support some of the highly structured US life styles. He
worked assembling air conditioning and related stuff in large buildings. He
was used to tight designs and specialisation. By comparison, Sydney workers
(at least at that time 20 years ago) were "generalists" (since
specialists couldn't be justified for the limited amount of work). Also, we
would muddle through a lot more than he could tolerate, making it up on the
spot, rather than properly designing a system.

They ended up moving to the US (and I've lost touch).
