The pollen from both lots of corn (GM & non GM) will float about on the wind (UK studies found pollen/offspring about 180 km from the orig site). So imagine I want to have the benefits of the GM crop but w/o paying (esp payng every year). Solution? Plant crop close to the GM crop & wait. The right of people to "own" their own crop & to do with it as they wish (i.e. plant some next year, sell as seed corn or as food etc.etc) is so ancient that it is a pillar of the settled human existence. So the poor sod who's tied to monsanto via a contract will have to shell out while all his neighbors go "thanks very much" if they're in favour of GM or "you complete b&stard" if not in favour.
