Yes ma'am... :) Adopted Nikki (a male DSH from my vet a couple of
months ago and we've been busy getting to know each other) He's got an
attitude sometimes although, it's better now that we've been around each
other awhile. Likely wouldn't have kept him if I didn't know cats
though cuz he bit me hard enough to bleed twice in the first two weeks I
had him... I think it was because of a combination of things though...
he'd been stuck in kennel for 4 months (they tried to get him out as
often as they could but it wasn't enough), I don't think he's ever been
taught how to play properly (I've been busy working on that and he's
doing much better), he was likely being a little spiteful at being
abandoned there for so long and then suddenly finding himself in a new
place that still had the scent of another cat in it, and I think he was
excited by the attention he was getting and didn't know how to handle
it. Anyhow, I seem to have passed his tests and he's decided that he
loves the affection and play time so we haven't had any problems lately.
Well, we had a slight one today but it was explainable... I took him to
the vet cuz I'm pretty sure he has tape worms (he had fleas when I first
got him and even though I started him on a flea program right away,
he'd likely ingested a few). They remembered that he'd been a problem
to give pills to so they offered to use their "pill giver". The waiting
room was full of dogs including a Rottie that was very ummmmmmmmmm...
vocal. :) Nikki growled and hissed at me right after they gave him the
pill (I held him during the ordeal) and then swatted at me when we got
back in the van to come home, but he never actually bit or used his
claws so I take that as a good sign. He was letting me know he was
upset but he wasn't gonna hurt me as a result of it. :)
Hugs,
Vikki
