I really REALLY enjoy being with my kids. It is so neat to watch them
learn! And ENJOY learning! Besides, while they're young is the time to
get them used to the way you want them to behave. Mine are used to
healthy eating, enjoying learning, a little TV, a little occasional
candy, and junk food once in a blue moon.
SJ> I recieved a catalog for "A BEKA BOOKS", do you know of them
Sure. They have a good reputation, but I didn't want a prepackaged
currrriculum. I know several families that use it and like it.
SJ> Can you give me more info on your curic?
It's not formalized. I keep an eye on the overall "feel" of what we're
doing, and when I see a need, I try to think of or look for something
that will fill it. I like E.D. Hirsch's "What Your ____ Grader Needs to
Know" for reading knowledge, but it includes minimal hands-on stuff.
I'm going to start Saxon Math with my older child as soon as I find what
I did with the book. She's also currently reciting the times table
on a daily basis; I haven't found anything else that will get her to
MEMORIZE the danged thing. (I'm hoping this will ...)
