When you play those covers, in public, before (presumably) live audiences, 
who gets the royalties?
That's the bottom-line question.
I'm ass/u/me'ing that the fees (at least here in the states) are paid via the 
monthly/semi-montly dues to belong to either ASCAP and/or BMI.
