It was one ECS MB and one MSI.  Similar symptoms on both; PM won't run 
and OS/2 has no access to desktop -- no mouse or KB.  On the ECS, OS/2 
on board sound works.  W98SE seems OK.  AMD said ECS is "third tier", 
avoid.  However, the ECS MB I used is on their approved list.  I still 
have it.

MSI.  Bought from Fry's with 3000 CPU and memory.  Used a video card 
from a functioning system - AMD 2200.  Would not post.  Went to Fry's. 
  Was told I needed better memory and video.  They plugged in what 
they recommended and it posted.  Took their parts home.  It had the 
same symptoms as the ECS.  I returned it.
