I had emx give me an out of memory error once too, never really figured out
what caused it and it hasn't happened again.  I thought it was because I
added the gccload=5 environment variable and was compiling two programs in
two seperate sessions, but never confirmed that was the cause.

Now I typically only compile one program at a time. :-)
