Simple...Yes! As Vic said, gifts (under $50?) are duty free, so be sure when
you box up that $20 router you scrall on some paper "Happy Birthday Vic, old
buddy" and write "gift" on the box.
Prepay USPS and it will land on Vic's doorstep...No charge!
The same $20 USD purchase from US discounter...$5.00 customs chge and
GST (fed 7%) plus PST (Prov 0 to 7%) wud cost $32.36 CAD ($25.89USD).
But some US outfits won't do USPS, only couriers, and their Customs
"service" charges make them cost prohibitive on $50 items.
BTW, there are no Customs Duty (7 to 14%) on computer parts/electronics
into Canada, just the "service charges'.
