George,
GD> Send those little guys this way. We loooooove those Quakers. I keep
GD> hearing stories of people releasing large numbers of these guys. I guess
GD> they are real harty and can survive the cold.
They are harty and make wonderful companions. They are the neatest chicks
to handfeed, always bobbing there little heads up and down. I had was that I
was feeding for a woman named Ms. Martin. So, I named him Bobbi Martin.
I have one pair. That's all the Quakers noise that I can stand. This last
spring I put them in a different cage and supplied them with twigs fron the
cedar and willow trees. It didn't take long before they had built their nest.
I photographed the process as they structured the nest.
This last week I noticed that the nest looked a bit flimsy. Well, it seems
that the Quakers didn't like where the entrance was, so they restructured the
nest and moved the entrance to another side. I think that I will give them
some more branches and see what they do with it.
